A septarian nodule (or "dragon stone") is a distinctive geological concretion formed 50 to 70 million years ago. It features an outer limestone shell with a network of internal shrinkage cracks (called septaria) filled with yellow calcite and brown aragonite.

A midcentury Danish folding stool designed by Poul Hundevad, constructed in wengé, a dense, dark-grained hardwood, with the two X-shaped leg pairs tapering and crossing at a pivoted joint so the stool folds flat for storage. The seat is a single piece of black leather with a run of scalloped notches cut along each long edge; these hook directly over turned pegs set into the top rails, a detail unique to Hundevad's construction and one that lets the leather bow gently into a comfortable seat under weight, without stitching or tacks.

The upper section comprises a pair of glazed doors set within moulded pilasters crowned with carved acanthus-leaf capitals, below a projecting cornice enriched with a dentil-moulded frieze. The doors decorated with carved laurel wreaths, a favoured Hope motif drawn from classical antiquity, and open to reveal adjustable shelving.

The lower section with a central drawer, opening to reveal a secretaire with gilt tooled leather writing surface, with two flame mahogany doors below, sitting between two fluted columns and all resting on turned bun feet with roundels and acanthus leaf details.

A fine late eighteenth century Sheraton-style satinwood and rosewood display cabinet on stand. The upper section with a shaped, pagoda-inspired outline to the cornice, crowned with two finials, all opening with three glazed doors to the front, the doors cross-banded in satinwood, with fine brass escutcheons.

Below the glazed doors, the middle section fitted with three further doors veneered in richly figured rosewood, cross-banded in satinwood, the central door centred by an oval satinwood medallion, a favoured Sheraton decorative device.

The stand below incorporates a pull-out writing slide, lined in gilt tooled green leather. The frieze drawer fitted with brass leopard-mask ring handles above a shaped and cross-banded apron, centred by an inlaid oval fan motif. The whole is raised on elegant square-tapered legs with satinwood inlay to the edges.

The bracket resolves into a lyre-form support with scrolled volutes meeting at a turned baluster finial.
