AN EXCEPTIONAL MARQUETRY TRIC TRAC TABLE
France, circa 1830
An exceptional early nineteenth century tric trac table, with unusual marquetry top decorated with sprays of flowers and opposing birds to each side, the reverse of the top covered in green baize for cards, opening to reveal an ebonised backgammon playing surface with white and green stained lozenges. The frieze of the table with further marquetry decoration, each side with a drawer to the right hand side for playing pieces, all supported on tapering legs and terminating in brass sabots.
