A PAIR OF AUDOUX MINET ROPE LAMPS

A PAIR OF AUDOUX MINET ROPE LAMPS
France, circa 1940
A pair of mid-twentieth century rope twist lamps, attributed to Audoux Minet.
Audoux-Minet was a design partnership between the French designers Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet. They were active during the middle of 20th century and were known for their furniture and lighting designs in natural materials such as woven abaca and bamboo.
Audoux-Minet became contributing members of the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM) which was established in 1929 by a group of Modernist designers. Other members included Charlotte Perriand, Francis Jourdain, Louis Sognot and Pierre Chareau. The philosophy of the union was to use new, accessible materials and technologies, representing the realities of modern life. They also championed the innovative use of cheap materials such as sea grass, rush, pine and tubular metal, along with techniques such as lamination. All this created a fresh approach to design which was accessible to a broader demographic.
Height of lamp 23.00cm
Height with shade 43.00cm
Width of base 20.00cm
Please note:
Lampshade not included. Lamp photographed with a 14” diameter pale cream card Pembroke lampshade.
Currently wired for the UK with patinated brass BC bulb fittings, with bronze twisted silk flex and black torpedo switches, with white 13amp plugs. PAT tested. Please enquire for rewiring services.
