A NORTH EUROPEAN 18TH CENTURY WALNUT CABINET ON CHEST
Northern Europe, circa 1720
An early eighteenth century cabinet on chest in figured walnut, the top with crossbanded double doors revealing an interior fitted with eleven drawers surrounding a central tabernacle, fitted with a further bank of secret drawers hidden by a drop down slide. The interior drawers and doors decorated with elaborate stained marquetry depicting hunting scenes, various dogs, a lion and unicorn. The bottom section fitted with two short and two long drawers with ring pull handles and feather banding, all supported on bracket feet.
