Bettina Ehrlich (1903 - 1995) was an Austrian artist, born to a Jewish family in Vienna in 1903. She studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule School of arts in Vienna before moving to Berlin, Paris and then London. Ehrlich worked in many forms of media including oils, watercolour and printing techniques. However, she was most highly acclaimed for her hand painted silks, for which she won a silver medal at the Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne in Paris in 1937. She sold her work in London through the Hanover Gallery in St George’s Street, Mayfair. The gallery was owned by Erica Brausen, an important figure in the post-war art world and was famous for exhibiting the works of Francis Bacon in 1949.
